Monster Energy/Arctic Cat’s Tucker Hibbert hit a home run at Newman Outdoor Field by sweeping the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series Dakota Magic Casino Fargo National.

Despite frigid weather with fierce winds dropping the air temperature to 20 below zero, thousands of fans filled the FM RedHawks stadium Friday and Saturday to watch the first ever snocross event at the popular baseball field.

The track was tight but the abundance of snow allowed it to develop deep holes and multiple lines creating intense racing action.

Similar to the season opener in Duluth, Minn. two weeks ago, Hibbert chased down and passed no. 837 Ross Martin for the win in the both main events.

Hibbert took the holeshot in Friday’s 22-lap Pro Open final but by the second corner was shuffled back to third. On lap two, he made the pass for second only to lose that position two laps later after tipping over in high-banked corner. He quickly remounted and with a newfound determination, began his charge to the front. He utilized the entire course, finding new lines with every lap.

On lap 11, he snuck by no. 11 Tim Tremblay and finally had Martin in sight. Within a couple laps, Hibbert was on Martin’s snow flap and they began an aggressive battle for the lead. They each took a couple hard hits but eventually Hibbert came out on top.

Saturday’s Pro Super Stock final was nearly a carbon copy of the Open final. Martin took the early lead with Hibbert in third. On lap 16 of 24, Hibbert passed Martin and opened over a three second gap for the win.

Next up for Hibbert is the Piranha X Western National in Sandy, Utah Jan. 8. This will mark the second annual event at the stunning Rio Tinto Stadium, home of the Salt Lake Real professional soccer team.

“I’m pumped about how everything turned out in Fargo. We (the team) were able to win the finals and improve on our overall championship points by doing well in the qualifiers. It was a cool feeling racing so close to home and having so many friends and family at the event. I was really surprised by the strong turnout considering how bad the weather was. Overall, it was a great event and I hope to race there again. I’m excited about the improvements we (the team) made from Duluth to Fargo. I feel a lot stronger now and am excited about the rest of the season.”
