It should come as no surprise to snocross racing enthusiasts Michael Island won last winter’s prestigious X-Games for Ski-Doo and Warnert Racing.
Island who hails from Barrie, Ontario has been racing WSA snocross for four years now and proved he is truly a national championship contender by placing second overall in the WSA Pro Open National Championship series in 2004.
With Blair Morgan returning last season after a devastating motocross injury suffered early in the 2003 CMRC Canadian Nationals, many felt Island would be the rider to dethrone Morgan.
Of course, breaking Morgan’s X-Games streak was significant but we’re sure Island will be focusing on a WSA National Championship for the 2005 season. Island has signed on with Warnert and Ski-Doo for the next two seasons.
