Rampant speculation coming from BRP relates to the use of Ski-Doo’s revolutionary E-Tec Direct Injection system currently in use on Evinrude 2-stroke outboards.
E-Tec was recently granted the EPA’s “Clean Air Excellence Award”, the first manufacturer to receive the award for a 2-stroke engine.
We strongly suspect the next generation of Rotax 2-stroke snowmobile engines might employ E-Tec rather than Ski-Doo’s 2006 EPA certified Semi-Direct Injection (SDI) system.
BRP can now rationalize its clean air 2-stroke technologies and standardize the systems used on both snowmobiles and outboard engines which BRP has proven can be cleaner, more efficient and lighter than competing 4-stroke outboards.
We don’t think it’ll be long before you’ll see a Rotax powered E-Tec Ski-Doo.
