With winter weather reluctant over most of the eastern half of the continent – Ronald Cantin and his Rouyn Noranda PQ based crew promoted the first ‘05 season sno-cross race on the North American continent. Held at the Kanasuta Ski-Resort near RN, Quebec the short, man made course held up remarkably for the more than 500 entries. This weekend saw a number of non-regular Pro racers from Quebec and the WSA impacting results but not the all important season-long championship points race for CSRA regular Pro riders.
EVINRUDE SKI-DOO SUPERTRAX TEAM’s AJ Lester returning for his third Pro CSRA season is confident in his off-season training and is in the best physical condition he’s ever been in. In Pro 440 AJ netted third place among CSRA regular riders. In Pro Open AJ finished a disappointing 10th, but still fourth among CSRA regular Pro’s. In Saturday’s Pro 600 competition – the only Pro class which does not award national points – AJ wisely choose to keep his goggles on to score a tenth at the checkers and fifth among CSRA regulars.
EVINRUDE SKI-DOO SUPERTRAX TEAM member Matt Turner served notice he was ready for CSRA Pro competition – this his first weekend in National Racing. Matt qualified strong in Pro 440 and earned his spot on the front row for the final. In the last turn of the last lap in 440 Pro a caution was thrown for a down rider and Matt was held up slightly – breaking his momentum allowing the second place rider to squeak by and take the checkers. Matt scored a solid second but took top CSRA regular Pro laurels. In Pro 600 racing Matt pulled a huge holeshot and cleared the first turn in the lead. This was the first Pro race of the weekend on Saturday and Matt was clearly in command of the track and his Racing Rev. Matt made a small bobble early on and gave up the lead – eventually scoring second but leaving no doubt in anyone’s mind he is fully able to race Pro CSRA sno-cross.
